Terms And Conditions
Refunds and Exchanges
Above your statutory rights we will only give refunds if agreed in writing at the time of sale. Exchanges for credit notes may be supplied within 2 months of purchase providing the article is in original condition, with all presentation boxes, orginal guarantees/ paperwork where included and proof of purchase. This excludes sale items which may not be exchanged or refunded, statutory rights excepting. Above these rights, we advise you to consider insuring your purchase against loss or accidental damage; your insurers will guide you as to your options.
Insurance Information & Advice
We advise you to ensure adequate insurance cover for your jewellery and watches against all risks including but not limited to, accidental damage and loss. This is over and above your statutory rights for newly purchased items, as we will not accept liability for accidental damage. In the unfortunate event of a claim being necessary many insurance companies will attempt to introduce settlement by voucher or replace your jewellery through third party suppliers. Please be advised, according to the Insurance Ombudsman, you are not obliged to accept these options; you may stipulate you wish to return to your original supplier or in handmade specialist cases, the original maker. We would be pleased to advise you if required. We strongly recommend keeping your insurance values up to date.
Anti Money Laundering Procedures
Jacobs operates anti money laundering controls, as required by law. You may be asked to provide evidence of your identity prior to your transaction being carried out. We will keep copies of any documentary evidence presented together with any transactions to comply with our legal obligations. Many thanks for your understanding.
Repairs
a. Warranty
Items trusted to Jacobs are always treated with the utmost care in our specialised workshops. Any repair carried out is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of the repair. The guarantee covers the materials used, spare components and any spare parts plus labour used in the repair. It is independent of any guarantee with the purchase of the item itself. Our guarantee does not cover damage in case of subsequent accident or abusive use (shock, dent etc.) or exceptional circumstances. For items not purchased from Jacobs we cannot accept responsibility for stone setting, materials or workmanship subsequent to repairs carried out, unless intrinsically and directly being part of the repair itself. This does not affect your statutory rights.
b. Watch Batteries
We regret that we cannot be responsible for the functioning of watches upon replacement of the battery unless fully serviced at the same time.
c. Estimates
In certain cases repairs may be subject to an administration fee if, after estimate, the repair is not progressed and is returned undone.
d. Repairs & Our Goldsmith
Whilst we have a goldsmith on site, at our discretion, certain repairs may be sent to our workshops via Royal Mail Special Delivery.
Conflict Diamonds
Jacobs’ diamonds have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations Resolutions. We guarantee that these diamonds are conflict free, based on personal knowledge and/or written guarantees provided by our suppliers. Older pieces of jewellery containing diamonds will in most cases carry our pledge that we have made our best efforts to assure the stones’ legitimacy.
